Cocoon's free AI course in Sri Lanka is a self-paced path through sixteen free, hands-on labs and tools — from training a tiny language model in your browser to building your first automation and agent — organised into four levels that take roughly twelve hours in total. It is built in Colombo, free in the plain sense, and works on a phone. Undergraduates can also join Cocoon's free four-week AI for Students programme, run as a CSR commitment.

Level 1 · How it works

Two to three hours. You leave knowing what a language model is actually doing, and why it is confident when it is wrong.

Most AI courses on offer in Sri Lanka are either a university certificate or a vendor's product training, and both cost money before you know whether AI is for you. This path is the free foundation: the same labs Cocoon uses inside its corporate programmes for banks, BPOs and agencies in Colombo, open to anyone. It suits working professionals who want to understand AI before paying for a course, undergraduates, career changers, and teachers building their own literacy first. Everything runs in the browser and most of it works on a phone over mobile data.

Not for the self-paced path — it is built for skills, not certification. The AI Readiness Score gives you a before-and-after report you keep. Cocoon's cohort programmes, including the free AI for Students programme, carry completion recognition.
